The Argonauts were a band of heroes in Greek mythology, who, in 1300 BC, accompanied Jason to Colchis on his quest to find the Golden Fleece. The Argonauts were named for their ship, the Argo, and the crew consisted of 50 demigods and princes. They pillaged Colchis until Medea stole the Golden Fleece from her father, King Aeetes, and fled to Greece with Jason. The crew returned to their homes after Jason and Medea moved to Corinth, and Jason would die years later from being crushed by a timber from the Argo as he slept.
