Argentocoxos of Pictland (187-248) was the first king of Pictland from 210 to 248, preceding Ru of Pictland.
Biography[]
Argentocoxos was born in 187 to the House of Uib, a dynasty of Pictish pagans. He became king of the Picts in 210, and during his reign he fought against the Roman Empire under Septimius Severus. When Severus' wife Julia Domna criticized the morals of Caledonian women, Argentocoxos' wife said that Caledonians consorted with the best men while Roman women were debauched in secret by the vilest. Argentocoxos was at peace for most of the rest of his career after Severus' death in 211, as Roman emperors fought several civil wars for the rest of Argentocoxos' reign.
