Ardashir III (621-27 April 629) was Shahanshah of the Sassanid Empire from 6 September 628 to 27 April 629, succeeding Kavadh II and preceding Purandokht.
Biography[]
Ardashir was born in 621, the son of Kavadh II. He succeeded his father when he died from plague in 628, and his vizier Mah-Adhur Gushnasp ruled over the Sassanid Empire due to Ardashir being too young. On 27 April 629, spahbod Shahrbaraz rebelled and overthrew Ardashir, having him killed before usurping the throne.
