Archduke Johann Baptist Joseph Fabian Sebastian of Austria (20 January 1782-11 May 1859) was the Archduke of the Austrian Empire and a general of the Napoleonic Wars.
Biography[]
Johann was the thirteenth child of Leopold II of Austria and was mothered by Maria Luisa of Spain. In September 1800 Johann was given command of the Austrian army in Germany but was defeated at the Battle of Hohenlinden, and he fought Eugene de Beauharnais during the Fifth Coalition of 1809. He was later defeated at the Battle of Wagram, and he halted his military service. He took an interest in nature, technology, and agriculture after his retirement and founded the Graz University of Technology.
