
Archduke Ferdinand Karl Joseph of Austria-Este (25 April 1781-5 November 1850) was son of Archduke Ferdinand and a general of the Austrian Empire.
Biography[]
Ferdinand Karl Joseph was born to Archduke Ferdinand von Osterreich-Este in Milan, Italy, and in 1805 he became commander-in-chief of the Austrian Empire with Mack von Leiberich as Quartermaster-General. At the Battle of Ulm his army was surrounded and he escaped with 2,000 men, while General Mack surrendered. In 1809 he occupied Warsaw, and in 1815 he commanded the reserves during the Hundred Days.
In 1848, with the Revolutions of 1848, he resided in Italy. He never married, and died in 1850.
