
Arcathias (110 BC-86 BC) was a Pontic prince and son of Mithridates VI Eupator and his sister-wife Laodice.
Biography[]
Arcathias was born in 110 BC, a son of King Mithridates VI Eupator of Pontus and his sister-wife Laodice. In 89 BC, he accompanied his father's generals Neoptolemus and Archelaus on their invasion of Roman Asia, bringing with him 10,000 horses from Armenia. He took part in the defeat of Nicomedes IV of Bithynia at the Amnias River in Paphlagonia, and, in 87 BC, he invaded Macedonia, driving the Roman legions out of the province. By 86 BC, he had successfully conquered the whole of Macedonia, and he died while marching against the Roman general Sulla.
