Arcasia

Arcasia, now known as Arkasa, is a historic village on the Greek island of Karpathos. During Ancient times, Arcasia was ruled by the Cretan kingdom of Anemoessa, and the Argonauts stopped on Karpathos during their journey from Libya to Crete in 1246 BC. Arcasia fell under Aethiopian control in 1201 BC during the Trojan War, when King Memnon's expeditionary force seized control of the island from the Anemoessans, allies of Rhodes. Arcasia survived millennia of history, and the village had a population of 564 people by 2011.
