Arash Kadivar (25 August 1941 - 13 January 1981) was an Iranian terrorist and spy who helped to organize the Iran hostage crisis. He became an agent of Perseus in his spyring during the 1970s in order to hasten the fall of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi in Iran, though after the Shah fled the country, Kadivar began accumulating power in the spyring.

Due to his connection with the hostage crisis, Kadivar was assassinated by Russell Adler, Frank Woods, and Alex Mason. Through Kadivar, they learned of the continued existence of Perseus, unintentionally enabling them to stop Perseus' plans.

Biography[]

Early life[]

Arash Kadivar was born on 25 August 1941 in Tehran, Iran to a politician in Mohammad Mosaddegh's administration. In the 1953 Iranian coup d'état orchestrated by the British MI6 and the American CIA, Mosaddegh's government was overthrown and replaced with the Western-allied monarchy led by Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. Kadivar's father was found guilty of corruption, being imprisoned, tortured, and executed. Kadivar began to hate the West and imperialism, affiliating himself with Soviet agents and becoming a member of Perseus' spyring while it was still affiliated with the USSR.

Terrorist activities[]

Kadivar founded a terrorist mercenary group to further Soviet goals and hasten the fall of the Shah, mainly by bombing Iranian government buildings and executing key supporters of Pahlavi. They also participated in the Iranian Revolution of 1979, attacking the Shah's soldiers and his supporters. Kadivar was also responsible for organizing the Muslim Student Followers of the Imam's Line to invade the US Embassy in Tehran and take hostages. This was all done under the direction of Perseus, who intended to divert America's attention from the Soviets to the Iranians.

After the hostage crisis concluded, Kadivar was identified as a key target and marked for assassination by the Reagan Administration, with the hit personally being approved by President Ronald Reagan.

Death[]

After his protégé Qasim Javadi was captured and interrogated by CIA special agent Russell Adler and legendary agents Alex Mason and Frank Woods in Amsterdam, Netherlands on 12 January 1981, Kadivar was discovered to be in Trabzon, Turkey for a meeting with Soviet officials.

18 hours later, Adler's team arrived at Trabzon and witnessed Kadivar's arrival, where he gunned down the Soviet occupants of his car. The airport was soon stormed, where his men were killed and the cargo plane Kadivar boarded being pursued and destroyed with an RC-XD.

Kadivar survived the explosion, taunting Adler with Perseus before being executed by him. His divulgence of Perseus reinvigorated CIA efforts into investigating the mythical Soviet spymaster, eventually stopping his plan of detonating Operation Greenlight nukes across Europe.
