
Aram Jules Pothier (26 July 1854-4 February 1928) was the Republican Governor of Rhode Island from 5 January 1909 to 5 January 1915 (succeeding James H. Higgins and preceding Robert Livingston Beeckman) and from 6 January 1925 to 4 February 1928 (succeeding William S. Flynn and preceding Norman S. Case).
Biography[]
Aram Jules Pothier was born in Quebec, Canada in 1854, and he and his family moved to Woonsocket, Rhode Island, where he clerked for congressman Latimer W. Ballou. He was elected to the local school committee in 1885, served in the State House from 1887 to 1888 and as city auditor from 1889 to 1894, served as Mayor of Woonsocket from 1894 to 1895, served as Lieutenant Governor from 1897 to 1898, and served as Governor from 1909 to 1915 and from 1925 until his death in 1928.
