Arabo (1863-1893), born Stepanos Mkhitarian, was a leader of the Armenian fedayis during the struggle against the Ottoman Empire.
Biography[]
Stepanos Mkhitarian was born in Kurter, Bitlis Vilayet, Ottoman Empire. He studied at Arakelots Monastery in Mush and led Armenian fedayis in the Armenian national liberation movement in the late 1880s. In 1892, he was arrested by Turkey, but he later escaped to resume guerrilla warfare. He was killed by Kurdish tribesmen loyal to the government in 1893.
