Apollos

Apollos was an Alexandrine Christian missionary who played a major role in building the churches of Ephesus and Corinth during the 1st century AD.

Biography[]

Apollos was born in Alexandria, Aegyptus to a Jewish family, and he became a Christian preacher in Ephesus, although he knew only of Jesus' baptism by John the Baptist. Aquila and his wife Priscilla later told Apollos more about Christianity, and that John's baptism was one of repentance; they had Apollos and his converts be re-baptized in the name of Jesus. He later became an important figure in the Corinth church.
