Apis was an Ancient Egyptian deity and sacred bull worshipped by Memphians as the son of Hathor. He was said to have been conceived by a ray from heaven, sacrificed, and reborn, and he later served as an intermediary between humans and powerful deities such as Ptah, Osiris, and Atum.
