Anushilan Samiti

Anushilan Samiti was an Indian revolutionary organization that was active in the Bengal Presidency from 1902 to 1938. The organization was created by radical students attending gymnasiums in Bengal, and the group gained two major strongholds in Dhaka and Calcutta. The group used terrorist tactics until the 1920s, when many members defected to Mahatma Gandhi's non-violent Indian National Congress party, but smaller factions advocated armed struggle, leading up to the Chittagong armory raid of 1930. During the 1930s, the British suppressed the organization, and some members would gravitate towards communism while others joined the INC.
