
Antonio Trillanes (6 August 1971-) was a Senator of the Philippines from 30 June 2007 who led the 2003 Oakwood mutiny against Gloria Macapagal Arroyo with his conservative Magdalo Group movement. In 2016, he threatened a coup against Rodrigo Duterte if he was elected.
Biography[]
Antonio Trillanes was born on 6 August 1971 in Manila, Philippines, and he served in the Filipino Navy. In 2003, he led the Magdalo Group in the 2003 Oakwood mutiny, which saw 300 Filipino officers and soldiers protest against rampant corruption in the administration of Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. For seven and a half years, he was detained for his protest, but he was released in an amnesty and was elected as a senator on 30 June 2007. Trillanes supported Grace Poe in the 2016 elections against Rodrigo Duterte, and on 5 May 2016 he threatened a coup d'etat if Duterte was elected.
