Antonia Okafor was an African-American gun rights activist. Born and raised in Carrollton, Texas, she was the founding president of Empowered, a nonprofit group which trained and equipped young women in the use of firearms on college campuses. Originally a conservative Democrat who enthusiastically voted for Barack Obama in 2008, she became disillusioned with the lack of progress under the Obama administration by 2010, and she became a Republican and campaigned for Iowa congressional candidate Steve King.
