Anton von Beck

Anton von Beck (died June 1929) was a Major of the Imperial German Army and a leader of the Black Reichswehr during the Interwar period. He served as the right-hand man of Major-General Wilhelm Seegers, and he masterminded the creation of the secretive Lipetsk fighter-pilot school in the Soviet Union, traveling 44 times to Lipetsk from 1925 to 1929 to train Imperial German Air Force fighter pilots in violation of the Treaty of Versailles. Beck was among the Black Reichswehr leaders arrested in May 1929 ahead of the planned Operation Prangertag coup, but he was released by order of the crypto-nationalist President Paul von Hindenburg. He and right-wing policeman Bruno Wolter later attempted to hijack a Soviet train being sent back to Russia with a delivery of phosgene gas meant for the Black Reichswehr, but Von Beck and his soldiers were ambushed and shot dead by the Berlin Mafia.
