Anton Borisovich Denisov (4 February 1913-19 July 2001) was a Red Army assault squad leader during World War II.
Biography[]
Anton Borisovich Denisov was born on 4 February 1913 in Ekimchan, Russian Far East, Russian Empire. Denisov joined the Red Army of the Soviet Union in 1931 and became a soldier in an infantry division attached to the Transbaikal Front (stationed in the Far East), rising to be an assault squad commander during World War II. In August 1945, he led his squad against the Imperial Japanese Army in Manchuria in Operation August Storm, and he was struck down by some Japanese bullets. Fortunately, a medic attached to the squad succeeded in healing him, and he was honored for his service. After the war, he became the head of a detachment of Soviet troops in Ekimchan that oversaw food services, and he retired in 1980. He died in 2001 at the age of 88.
