Antinous of Ithaca (died 1173 BC) was an Ithacan nobleman and one of the two leading suitors of Odysseus' presumed widow Penelope, alongside Eurymachus. The son of Eupeithes, Antinou swas violent, mean-spirited, and over-confident, defiling Odysseus' home while the latter was lost at sea, and he and Eurymachus failed in their attempt to assassinate Odysseus' son Telemachus on his return journey from visiting King Menelaus in Sparta. When Odysseus returned and sought revenge against the suitors, Antinous was the first to be slain, with Telemachus hoisting him onto a wall while impaled by a spear.
