Antilochos the Dreadful (died 424 BC) was the pro-Athenian king of Phocis during the Peloponnesian War.
Biography[]
It's said when Antilochos the Dreadful went to battle, the enemy would retreat. Stories of his ruthlessness spread, but the truth to them is unknown. Either way, people felt it was safer to believe them.
By 424 BC, Athens had installed Antilochos as its puppet ruler in Phocis. That same year, he was publicly assassinated by the Spartan mercenary Kassandra as he prayed at the temple in Kirrha.
