The Anti-Fascist People's Freedom League (AFPFL) was a democratic socialist political alliance in Burma that was active from 1 March 1945 to June 1958. The alliance was founded by the Communist Party of Burma leader Thakin Soe and Burma National Army commander Aung San, and it aimed to resist the British colonial administration and achieve independence. Aung San's assassination in 1947 deprived the alliance of an important leader, and Burma was plunged into civil war a year later. In 1958, the party split into two factions due to internal disputes.
