Anthony Moss (born 1876) was a British police inspector in Birmingham during the early 20th century.
Biography[]
Anthony Moss was born in Birmingham, England in 1876, and he came from a working-class family. He joined the police force and rose to the rank of Sergeant, and he and most of his fellow Birmingham policemen also served in the British Army in France during World War I. He built resentment against Inspector Chester Campbel after his arrival in 1919, as he disagreed with Campbell's illegal methods (spying, torture, etc.) in dealing with the Peaky Blinders, as well as resenting his lack of service during the war. In 1921, he became Inspector of the Birmingham Police after Campbell's death, and he took bribes from the Peaky Blinders to drop investigations or even ensure that patrols were not held in certain areas.
