Anthony Morris I (23 August 1654-24 October 1721) was Mayor of Philadelphia from 5 October 1703 to 3 October 1704, succeeding Edward Shippen and preceding Griffith Jones.
Biography[]
Anthony Morris I was born in Stepney, London, and he emigrated to Burlington, New Jersey in 1682 before relocating to Philadelphia three years later. He built a successful brewery, served on the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, and was elected Mayor in 1704.
