Anthony Molinari (1905-1955) was the Don of the Molinari crime family of San Francisco.
Biography[]
Anthony Molinari was born in Sicily, Italy in 1905, and he later emigrated to the United States, settling in San Francisco, California. He became involved with the American Mafia and founded the Molinari crime family, becoming one of the youngest Dons on The Commission, as well as a close ally of Don Frank Falcone from Los Angeles. He smuggled drugs across the Mexican border, and he also ran an upscale seafood restaurant. During the Five Families War of the 1940s, he supported his friend and ally Vito Corleone, guaranteeing the protection of Fredo Corleone during his stay in Las Vegas. In 1955, Vito's son Michael Corleone, the new boss of the Corleone crime family, decided to eliminate Molinari after Molinari became suspicious of the Corleone family's role in the murders of the heads of the Five Families and the concurrent move of the Corleones to Las Vegas. His plane was sabotaged as he left a meeting with Vincent Forlenza, and both Molinari and Frank Falcone died in the ensuing crash. Molinari was succeeded as don by his brother, Nicodemo Molinari.
