Antonio "Tony Ducks" Corallo (12 February 1913 – 23 August 2000) was the boss of the Lucchese crime family from 1974 to 1987, succeeding Carmine Tramunti and preceding Victor Amuso.
Biography[]
Anthony Corallo was born in East Harlem, Manhattan, New York City on 12 February 1913, and he joined the 107th Street Gang during the 1920s. By 1935, he had become a member of the Lucchese crime family, and he became a caporegime in 1943. Corallo moved his crew from Harlem to Queens, and he came to control five chapters of the Teamsters alongside Johnny Dio. In 1967, he was passed over as the new boss of the family due to the fact that he was under indictment, and he was imprisoned from 1968 to 1971; in the meantime, Carmine Tramunti became boss. In 1973, when Tramunti was sent to prison, Corallo took over as boss. During the 1980s, the FBI bugged Corallo's Jaguar, where he would sit to make phone calls; the car was loud enough to mute the conversation to those outside, but the fact that the bug was inside the car led to Corallo incriminating himself and many of his lieutenants in his phone calls. In 1985, he was arrested by the FBI, and he died in prison in Springfield, Missouri in 2000.
