Tory MP

Anthony Bacon (1716-21 January 1786) was the Tory MP for Aylesbury from 1764 to 1784. He ran an import-export industry from Maryland during his younger years and became a shipping contractor during the Seven Years' War; he was heavily involved in the Atlantic slave trade. Bacon was a staunch supporter of Frederick North's administration, believing that Great Britain should act towards the Thirteen Colonies with a paternal instinct, yet should severely punish the colonies for rebelling. He died in 1786.
