Antenor, Son of Aphrodite

Antenor, Son of Aphrodite (472-429 BC) was King of Locris during the Peloponnesian War. He was assassinated by the Spartan mercenary Kassandra in 429 BC.

Biography[]

Loyalty, trust, and honor were fool's errands to Antenor. He believed the gods were glorious because they were beautiful, and because they were self-serving, which Antenor understood all too well.

By 429 BC, he had been installed as the Spartan puppet king of Locris, reigning from his palace in Opous. That year, the mercenary Kassandra, who was hunting the Cult of Kosmos in the region, infiltrated his estate and gradually wore down his guards and the mercenaries sent after her, leading them on a chase from the estate to the nearby salt flats. Ultimately, she succeeded in assassinating Antenor while he was searching for her in the leader house, weakening Sparta's control over Locris.
