Annie Chapman (25 September 1840-8 September 1888) was an English prostitute who was murdered by Jack the Ripper in 1888 amid the Whitechapel murders.

Eliza Ann Smith was born in Paddington, London, England in 1840, the first of five children born to an unmarried couple. She became an alcoholic at a young age, and she became a domestic servant in London even after her family relocated to Windsor. She married a maternal relative in 1869, and they resided in Brompton. In 1881, the family briefly relocated to Windsor before Chapman separated from her husband in 1884 and relocated to London. She became a prostitute to supplement her weekly allowance from her husband, and she resided in common lodging-houses in both Whitechapel and Spitalfields. In the early hours of 8 September 1888, she left the company of a friend to service a man with a shabby and foreign appearance, and, shortly before 5 AM, she was found dead in the yard of 29 Hanbury Street. Her throat was cut, and her intestines were cut out and thrown over each of her shoulders.
