Annette Taddeo

Annette Taddeo (7 April 1967-) was a member of the Florida Senate (D-SD 40) from 26 September 2017, succeeding Frank Artiles.

Biography[]

Annette Taddeo was born in Barrancabermeja, Colombia in 1967 to an Italian-American father and a Colombian mother. She moved to Huntsville, Alabama at the age of 17 before moving to Miami, Florida and starting a translation business. She became active in local Democratic politics and was Charlie Crist's running mate during his unsuccessful 2014 bid for Governor of Florida. She also mounted her own unsuccessful bid for the US House of Representatives in 2016, losing to Republican incumbent Carlos Curbelo; some of her secret campaign documents were obtained by Russian hackers and leaked to the public to sabotage her campaign. However, she was elected to the State Senate in 2017 on the resignation of Republican State Senator Frank Artiles, and she once again ran for the House in 2022, taking on Republican incumbent Maria Elvira Salazar.
