Anna Paulina Luna (6 May 1989-) was a member of the US House of Representatives (R-FL 13) from 3 January 2023, succeeding Charlie Crist.
Biography[]
Anna Paulina Mayerhofer was born in Orange City, California in 1989, the daughter of a German and Mexican-American father and a Mexican-American mother; her paternal grandfather served in the Wehrmacht during World War II. She joined the US Air Force after high school, and she married an Air Force special forces operative and moved to Florida. After changing her surname to "Luna" to reflect her previously-unclaimed Hispanic heritage, she became Director of Hispanic Engagement for Turning Point USA before running for the US House of Representatives in 2020 and 2022. After her election, however, she was the subject of media scrutiny due to her falsified background claims; she lied about her family following Messianic Judaism, her supposed abusive and working-class background (she wore designer clothing and had nannies as a child), and claimed that she was nearly murdered during a home invasion (she was absent from her home at the time of the purported invasion). She also sought a stalking injunction request against one of her uncles after he questioned her biography on social media.
