Anna Georges Eshoo (born 13 December 1942) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-CA 14) from 3 January 1993 to to 3 January 2013, succeeding Tom Campbell and preceding Jackie Speier, and from CA 18 from 3 January 2013 to 3 January 2025, succeeding Dennis Cardoza and preceding Sam Liccardo.
Biography[]
Anna Georges Eshoo was born in New Britain, Connecticut in 1942 to a family of Armenian and Iranian-Assyrian descent. She chaired the San Mateo Democratic Party between 1978 and 1982, and she was also a member of the Democratic National Committee during the 1980s. From 1982 to 1992, she served on the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors, and she was then elected to the US House of Representatives in 1992. She supported gay rights, a pathway to citizenship for foreign workers, and other liberal causes.
