Anna Escobedo Cabral (born 12 October 1959) was Treasurer of the United States (R) from 19 January 2005 to 20 January 2009, succeeding Rosario Marin and preceding Rosa Gumataotao Rios.
Biography[]
Anna Escobedo Cabral was born in San Bernardino, California on 12 October 1959, and she graduated from the University of California at Santa Cruz in 1987. In 1990, she received her MPA from Harvard University after moving with her family to Massachusetts, and her family later moved to Washington DC after her husband obtained a job with the Justice Department. She served in several governmental organizations and advocacy groups before being appointed Treasurer of the United States in 2005 by President George W. Bush, replacing Rosario Marin. Her 5-year term ended in 2009 with the beginning of Barack Obama's administration.
