Ann Clwyd

Ann Clwyd (born 21 March 1937) was the Labour MP for Cynon Valley from 3 May 1984 to 6 November 2019, succeeding Ioan Evans and preceding Beth Winter.

Biography[]

Ann Clwyd was born in Denbighshire, Wales, and she worked as a journalist before serving as the Labour MEP for Mid and West Wales from 1979 to 1984 and as the Labor MP for Cynon Valley from 1984. She focused on human rights and international women's rights, and she also backed the Iraq War after claiming that Saddam Hussein and Qusay Hussein had fed prisoners into shredders. She stood down in 2019.
