Anis Amri (22 December 1992 – 23 December 2016) was a Tunisian man who was responsible for the 2016 Berlin attack, in which he killed 12 people and injured 49 in a truck attack.

Anis Amri was born in Tataouine, Tunisia on 22 December 1992, and he came to Germany through Italy in July 2015, posing as an Egyptian or a Lebanese immigrant. Amri became involved with an Islamic State cell in Germany known as "True Religion", and he decided to carry out a terrorist attack against German civilians during the Christmas season. On 19 December 2016, he murdered a Polish truck driver and stole his Scania semi-trailer truck, which he used to ram into crowds of people at a Christmas market in Berlin's Breitscheidplatz. Amri went on the run, and the police began to search for Amri on 21 December 2016 after his deportation papers were found in the truck used in the assault. Amri fled to Chambery, France, and he took the train to Milan, Italy. On 23 December 2016, he was encountered by policemen at the Sesto San Giovanni railway station, where he wounded one of them when they asked for identification. Amri was gunned down by the policemen shortly after.
