The Anglo-Powhatan War was a military conflict between the Virginia Settlers and the Powhatan Confederacy from 1607 to 1622. The settlers were led by Edward Wingfield and Captain John White, while the Powhatan were led by Chief Powhattan and Opechancanough. After many raids up to 1622, John White and an army of English settlers captured Werowocomoco from the Powhatan, capturing Maryland, and they moved on to capture Paxtang in Pennsylvania, ending the Powhatan Confederacy and taking over the eastern seaboard of the present-day United States.
