Biography[]

Andy Kim was in Boston, Massachusetts in 1982 to Korean immigrant parents, and he was raised in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. He went on to become a Rhodes Scholar and a leading national security expert. In 2018, Kim decided to run for the US House of Representatives from New Jersey's 3rd district, challenging Republican incumbent Tom MacArthur in what was projected to be a close race. He defeated MacArthur with 49.9% of the vote. Kim attained national recognition in the aftermath of the January 6 attack on the United States Capitol, during which he helped to clean up the physical mess left behind by Donald Trump's mob of insurrectionists. On 23 September 2023, he announced that he would challenge fellow Democrat Bob Menendez for re-election in 2024 after Menendez was indicted on bribery charges.
