
Andrey Aleksandrovich Sukhovetsky (27 June 1974-2 March 2022) was a Russian Army Major-General who served as deputy commander of the 41st Combined Arms Army during the Russo-Ukrainian War, during which he was killed at the Siege of Mariupol.
Biography[]
Andrey Aleksandrovich Sukhovetsky was born in the Russian SFSR, Soviet Union in 1974, and he joined the Russian Army in 1995 and served in the Russian Airborne Forces. He served in the Second Chechen War and the Russo-Georgian War, commanding paratroopers in combat. Sukhovetsky went on to take part in the annexation of the Crimea in 2014 and in Russia's intervention in the Syrian Civil War, and he headed the 7th Guards Mountain Air Assault Division from 2018 to 2021 before being promoted to Major-General and deputy commander of the 41st Combined Arms Army. Sukhovetsky commanded Spetsnaz forces during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, and he was killed by a Ukrainian sniper at the Siege of Mariupol on 2 March 2022.
