Andrew Torres was a resident of El Paso, Texas during the 2010s. Born to a mixed white and Hispanic family, he lived in New York City for 2 years before returning to El Paso. On 3 August 2019, his cousin and her husband were murdered during a white supremacist terrorist attack at an El Paso Walmart, and Torres was frequently interviewed by CNN in the days following the attack. While he claimed that he was not staunchly in favor of one party, he said that he stood with his representatives as they mourned the loss of their constituents, and that he supported gun control and immigration reform.
