Andrew McCabe (18 March 1968-) was Deputy FBI Director from 1 February 2016 to 29 January 2018, succeeding Mark F. Giuliano and preceding David Bowdich.

Biography[]

Andrew George McCabe was born in Hartford, Connecticut in 1968, and he worked as a lawyer in Philadelphia before joining the FBI in 1996. He worked for the New York field office for several years before Director James Comey appointed him Deputy FBI Director in 2016. After Comey was fired by President Donald Trump, McCabe and other senior law enforcement officials considered removing Trump from office for obstructing the Russia investigation. On 16 March 2018, Attorney General Jeff Sessions fired McCabe for making unauthorized releases of information to the media, but McCabe alleged that his firing was politically motivated.
