Andrew Lintner Harris (17 November 1835-13 September 1915) was the Republican Governor of Ohio from 18 June 1906 to 11 January 1909, succeeding John M. Pattison and preceding Judson Harmon.

Biography[]

Andrew Lintner Harris was born in Milford Township, Butler County, Ohio in 1835, and he served in the Union Army during the American Civil War. Harris rose to the rank of colonel of the 75th Ohio Infantry Regiment, distinguishing himself at Cemetery Hill during the Battle of Gettysburg before being defeated at the 1864 Battel of Gainesville in Florida. After the war, Harris served in the State Senate from 1866 to 1870, as Preble County probate judge from 1875 to 1882, as Lieutenant Governor from 1892 to 1896 and in 1906, and as Governor from 1906 to 1909. Harris was a supporter of Prohibition, and he banned corporate political donations. He died in Eaton, Ohio in 1915.
