Andrew Bates Netson (12 July 1949-21 January 1968) was a Private of the US Marine Corps awarded a Bronze Star during the Vietnam War.
Biography[]
Andrew Bates Netson was born in New York City on 12 July 1949, and was given a draft notice upon his 18th birthday; the Vietnam War was reaching its height. Netson was sent to Vietnam early in 1968, and he arrived at the US Marine Corps base at Khe Sanh, where he went through training. However, his training was interrupted by the Tet Offensive, and Netson fought in the trenches against the North Vietnamese Army (NVA). He fought the NVA off with a captured RPK until he was hit in the chest by stray fire and killed in action. Netson was posthumously awarded a Bronze Star for Bravery.
