Andrei Simonov

Andrei Dmitrievich Simonov (29 June 1966-29 April 2022) was a Russian Army Major-General who served as Chief of the Electronic Warfare Troops of the 2nd Guards Tank Army during the Russo-Ukrainian War.

Biography[]

Andrei Dmitrievich Simonov was born in Baranovka, Kirov Oblast, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union in 1966, and he joined the Russian Army in 1995. He graduated from the Frunze Military Academy in 2000 and the General Staff Academy in 2010, and, in 2014, he became Deputy Chief of the Electronic Warfare Troops of the Russian Armed Forces. He was promoted to Major-General in 2016 and came to serve as chief of the electronic warfare troops of the 2nd Guards Tank Army during the Russo-Ukrainian War. On 29 April 2022, he was killed in a Ukrainian artillery strike on his command post in the vicinity of occupied Izium.
