Andranik Margaryan

Andranik Margaryan (12 June 1949 – 25 March 2007) was Prime Minister of Armenia from 12 May 2000 to 25 March 2007, succeeding Aram Sargsyan and preceding Serzh Sargsyan.

Biography[]

Andranik Margaryan was born in Yerevan, Armenian SSR, Soviet Union in 1949, and he joined an illegal secessionist party during the 1970s. From 1974 to 1976, he was sent to a Soviet labor camp for proliferating unpatriotic ideas and activities, and he became a member of the Republican Party of Armenia following the Dissolution of the Soviet Union. He served as the party's Chairman of the Board from 1993 until his death in 2007, and he became Prime Minister after Aram Sargsyan was fired in 2000. He died of a heart attack in 2007.
