Amurru was an Amorite kingdom in western and north-western Syria and northern Lebanon. It was established in 2000 BC, and its founder, Abdi-Ashirta, was an Egyptian vassal. His son Suppiluliuma I eventually defected to the Hittite Empire, and Amurru was caught in the wars between the two great powers. Amurru was destroyed by the Sea Peoples in 1200 BC.
