Amrozi

Amrozi (10 June 1962 – 9 November 2009) was a member of Jemaah Islamiyah. He was one of the masterminds of the 2002 Bali bombings alongside his brother Mukhlas; Amrozi, Mukhlas, and Imam Samudra were executed by firing squad on 9 November 2009 by the government of Indonesia.

Biography[]

Amrozi was born on 10 June 1962 in Tenggulun, Lamongan, East Java to a family of Sunni Muslim Javanese. He attended the al-Mukmin Islamic School with his brother Mukhlas, and his family adhered to strict Wahhabism. Amrozi became a mechanic after previously repairing cars and cell phones, and he used these skills to help his brother Mukhlas and their friend Imam Samudra with plotting the 2002 Bali bombings. Amrozi purchased the bombs, and the bombings killed 202 people, including Australian tourists. On 7 August 2003 he was found guilty of involvement in the bombings and sentenced to death, and on 9 November 2009 he was executed by firing squad along with his co-conspirators.
