
Amr ibn al-Jamuh (died 625) was a sahabi of Muhammad.
Biography[]
Amr ibn al-Jamuh was born to a family of the Quraysh tribe in the Arabian Peninsula, and he was the chief of the Banu Salmah clan of Medina. An ardent devotee of the deity Manat, he took care of an idol of Manat with perfume. However, his wife Hind and their sons Muawwaz ibn Amr and Muaaz ibn Amr converted to Islam in 622, and Hind convinced Amr to convert as well. Amr was slain at the battle of Uhud in 625.
