Ampelio Crocco (22 June 1888 – 13 July 1942) was a Blackshirts leader.
Biography[]
Ampleio Crocco was born on 22 June 1888 in Perugia, Italy to a working-class family. Crocco was pro-war during World War I, wanting to take over Tyrol from Austria-Hungary due to his belief in Italian nationalism. He joined the Royal Italian Army and served in the Battle of Asiago, where he was awarded a medal for bravery. After the war, Crocco supported Benito Mussolini, leading the takeover of the police station in Perugia and taking part in the March on Rome in 1922. Afterwards, he became the leader of the paramilitary group in the city, and he died in 1942 of natural causes.
