Amnon (died 1030 BC) was the firstborn son of King David. He was the crown prince of Israel until his brother Absalom murdered him to avenge Amnon's rape of their sister Tamar.
Biography[]
Amnon was the oldest son of King David and his second wife Ahinoam, and he enjoyed a life of power and privilege as his father's heir. In 1032 BC, at the advice of his perverted cousin Jonadab, Amnon invited his half-sister Tamar to cook a special meal for him while pretending to be sick, only to rape her and expel her from his house. King David could not bring himself to punish his eldest son, so Tamar's full brother Absalom avenged her by murdering a drunken Amnon at a feast held two years later.
