Amlaib of Scotland (930-977) was King of Scotland from June 971 to 977, interrupting Kenneth II of Scotland's reigns.

Biography[]

Amlaib was born in Scotland in 930, a son of King Indulf and the brother of Cuilen. In 971, Kenneth succeeded Cuilen as King of Scotland following his assassination by the Strathclyde Britons. In June of that year, Amlaib seized power from Kenneth following the king's defeat in Cumbria, but Kenneth slew him in 977 and returned to the throne.
