Amjad Farooqi

Amjad Farooqi (1972-26 September 2004) was a leader of al-Qaeda in South Asia.

Biography[]

Amjad Farooqi was born in 1972 in Pakistan and joined Kashmiri militias that fought against India. He joined Jaish-e-Mohammed, a terrorist group in Pakistan, as well as al-Qaeda to demonstrate his firm belief in Salafi jihad. He conspired with Abu Faraj al-Libi to kill General Pervez Musharraf in Rawalpindi in December 2003 and was an associate of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, a major leader of al-Qaeda. In 2004, he was tracked down to a Sindh Province house in Nawab Shah by ISI and was killed in a gun battle.
