Amelia MacDowell (born 1836) was an Irish immigrant who arrived in New York City in 1862. Forced to flee Ireland during the Great Famine, she settled in the Five Points slum of Manhattan, where she lived in poverty as Protestant nativists discriminated against her and his fellow Catholic immigrants.
